Isle of Eigg in the picture

It just seems an ordinary island in the Inner Hebrides. The Isle of Eigg. But it is not. The inhabitants bought their island and made it self supporting where energy is concerned. Now they come from all over the world to study how just a hundred people made this work.

Isle of Eigg – “You have to be a bit daft to live here “, says Maggie who lives on the Scottish Isle of Eigg, one of the Inner Hebrides. “We bough the island with all inhabitants and live here with less than a 100 people. In winter we sometimes are stuck for weeks without being able to go to the mainland. Here you find no one but yourself.”
