Russians seem to have a different look at their reality than people outside of Russia. Asked how they think people outside of Russia perceive them they used words like hospitable and tolerant.
Russia – In a survey done by the All-Russia Public Opinion Research Center, Russians rated on a scale from 1 to 5 how they think that foreigners perceive them. The outcome was that the following terms scored very high: rich, independent, friendly, kind-hearted and tolerant. Non-Russians, asked in the same survey, however, find Russians authoritative, stubborn and wasteful.
According to Olega Kamenchuk, head of the research department the outcome shows how Russians want to see themselves. Many Russians have never traveled, so the majority has not a clue as to what other people think of them.
According to Leontii Byizov, senior researcher on the Russian institute, Russians are not prepared for reality. As an example he says, they are not willing to show responsibility in their share of the war with the Ukraine. “They just took what was theirs and that is all there is to it.”
